The Benevolent Society

The Benevolent Society (Detroit Benevolent Society) is a coalition of about thirty Black churches and organizations in Detroit, formed in March 2020 to address food insecurity among seniors and the economically vulnerable during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. It has since supplied more than 750,000 meals and partnered with Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services to implement COVID-19 testing in churches.
