Detroit family says woman was mistakenly cremated before funeral viewing

ClickOnDetroit | WDIV Local 49/19/2026

The family of Kimberlly Moore, a Detroit mother of five who died Sept. 3 after battling endometrial cancer, says her body was mistakenly cremated before a scheduled viewing at Hutchison Funeral Home. Moore's daughter, Bianca Robinson, discovered the error when she noticed a missing mole on the toe of the body prepared for viewing and was told her mother had been accidentally cremated upon arrival. The family is demanding answers and questioning how such a careless mistake could occur, while funeral home representative Mario Morrow said an internal investigation would be conducted and the business would "make the family whole" if found at fault. Confusion persists as Robinson was initially told the ashes were unavailable, then later informed they were in the funeral home's possession. The funeral home is working to identify the woman whose body was prepared for Moore's viewing, and the family is urging anyone who believes the woman could be their loved one to come forward.
